How to convert a YouTube video to MP3
- Copy the link. In the YouTube app tap Share, then Copy link. On a computer, copy the address bar.
- Paste it above. Conversion starts on its own. MP3 at 192 kbps is the default; pick 128 or 320 first if you want.
- Tap Download. The file saves with the song’s title, artist and cover art already written into it.
MP3 or M4A?
YouTube stores its audio as AAC. M4A is that same audio, copied as it is: nothing is re-encoded, so nothing is lost, and it is usually the faster of the two. MP3 is a new encode of that audio, made for the players and cars that only understand MP3. Editing it in a DAW? WAV is uncompressed and skips the MP3 encode altogether.

Which MP3 bitrate should I choose?
192 kbps is the default because it keeps everything the source has. YouTube streams its audio at about 130 kbps (129–130 kbps AAC and 126–131 kbps Opus on five of its most-viewed music videos, measured in October 2026), so 320 kbps cannot add detail that was never there; it makes a bigger file that some DJ software and car stereos prefer (more on 320 kbps). 128 kbps is the smallest file and fine for speech, podcasts and lectures.
How long does it take?
Most songs are ready in under half a minute. On our server a 3½-minute music video took about 20 seconds as a 192 kbps MP3, and 12 seconds as M4A, which is quicker because nothing is re-encoded. If someone converted the same video in the last six hours, the file is already there and the Download button appears at once.
Is ezmp3 safe to use?
There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. The page shows no ads, opens no pop-ups or new tabs, and has one download button: the one that appears when your file is ready.
You can check the rest yourself. ezmp3 sends a Content-Security-Policy header that lets the page load images and connections from ezmp3.me only, and scripts from ezmp3.me plus Cloudflare’s cookie-free visit counter, so no ad network or ad tracker can run on it. What you download is a plain audio file with its title, artist and cover art inside.

Yes. There are no ads, no pop-ups, no account and no paid tier.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in the browser. On iPhone, Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads. On Android, it goes to your Downloads folder.
Will the file show the song name and cover?
Yes. ezmp3 writes the video’s title, the channel as artist, and the thumbnail as cover art into every file.
Can I convert YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Shorts link from the app’s Share button; it converts like any other video.
What is the longest video I can convert?
90 minutes. Live streams and playlists can’t be converted; paste one video at a time.
How long is my file kept?
Six hours. After that it is deleted from our server and the download link stops working.
Is it legal to convert YouTube videos?
It depends on the video and where you live. Convert only what you have the right to keep: your own uploads, music under a free licence, or content the owner allows you to download.
