How to download a YouTube Short

  1. Copy the Short’s link. In the YouTube app, tap Share on the Short, then Copy link. It looks like youtube.com/shorts/ followed by the video’s code.
  2. Paste it above. 1080p MP4 is already selected, so the download starts on its own.
  3. Tap Download. The Short saves as an MP4 with its title and channel written in.

What you get

The Short as it was posted: vertical 1080 × 1920 H.264 video with its sound mixed in, the creator’s voice, music and effects together. ezmp3 adds no watermark; any text or stickers the creator put on the video stay, because they are part of the picture.

On our server a 27-second Short came out as a 15.1 MB file in 5.4 seconds. Shorts run up to three minutes, so the largest are about 100 MB at 1080p; 720p is roughly a third of that.

Copying a Shorts link on a computer

Open the Short on youtube.com and copy the address bar: youtube.com/shorts/ and an 11-character code. Links from the app’s Share button often end in “?si=” and a string of letters. That is YouTube’s share tag, and ezmp3 ignores it.
