How to save a YouTube Short as MP3
- Copy the Short’s link. In the YouTube app, tap Share on the Short, then Copy link. It looks like youtube.com/shorts/ followed by the video’s code.
- Paste it above. Conversion starts on its own, as MP3 at 192 kbps. Pick 128 or 320 first if you want.
- Tap Download. The MP3 saves with the Short’s title, the channel as artist, and its thumbnail as cover art.
What you get from a Short
The MP3 is the Short’s sound exactly as it was posted: the creator’s voice, any music they added and any effects, mixed together. If the Short plays a song from YouTube’s library, you get the part of the song heard in the Short, not the whole track. For the full song, paste the song’s own video.
Shorts run up to three minutes, so the files are small: a one-minute Short at 192 kbps is about 1.4 MB.
Copying a Shorts link on a computer
Open the Short on youtube.com and copy the address bar: it reads youtube.com/shorts/ followed by an 11-character code. Links copied from the app’s Share button often end in “?si=” and a string of letters. That is YouTube’s share tag; ezmp3 ignores it, so there is no need to delete it.
The same Short opened in the normal player, as a youtube.com/watch?v= link, works too: it is one video under two addresses.
Questions
How long does a Short take to convert?
Usually a few seconds. Shorts run up to three minutes, so there is little to download.
Do Shorts links work like normal YouTube links?
Yes. ezmp3 reads youtube.com/shorts/ links, youtu.be links and normal watch links alike.
Can I get just the song from a Short?
Only the part that plays in the Short. For the whole song, find the song’s own video and convert that.
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in the browser. On iPhone, Safari saves the file to Files › Downloads. On Android, it goes to your Downloads folder.
Can I save a Short as M4A or WAV instead?
Yes. Switch the format above the Convert button before you paste, or after the MP3 is ready to convert it again.
Is it free?
Yes. No ads, no pop-ups, no account.
